Marjorie Taylor Greene Sends Trump a Dire Warning Over Epstein

Greene’s Ultimatum

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — normally one of President Trump’s most ardent backers — delivered an unmistakable message Monday: expose the full Jeffrey Epstein files or face political blowback. Greene warned on social media that if the Justice Department does not unseal more information about the Epstein case, “the base” of Trump loyalists will turn against him. She accused the administration of dangling only “bits of red meat” instead of giving MAGA voters the promised full disclosure. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Greene insisted Trump must “take down every enemy of The People,” and cautioned that otherwise “the base will turn and there’s no going back.” She added that disappointed followers will accept “nothing else” short of the whole “steak dinner” of answers on Epstein.

Epstein Files Controversy

Greene’s warning came amid mounting pressure over the long-running Epstein scandal. Trump has recently instructed Attorney General Pam Bondi to seek a court order unsealing grand jury transcripts from the 2019 Epstein case, a move prompted by relentless demands from his right-wing base. Until now, the Justice Department had resisted releasing additional records. In a July memo, DOJ and FBI officials reiterated that there was no evidence Epstein was murdered in his jail cell or that any secret “client list” of accomplices existed. (Epstein had been charged in 2019 with sex-trafficking minors and died by suicide in custody.) Many of Trump’s supporters remain unconvinced and have loudly accused the administration of hiding information. As one account notes, “the conspiracists among [Trump’s] base have been in shambles” since the DOJ initially declined to release the so-called “Epstein files.” Greene’s post echoed that frustration, railed against “deep state…treasonous crimes” and elite cabals, and warned that unless Trump fulfills his campaign promise of full transparency, even his staunchest backers may abandon him. It remains unclear whether the court will grant Bondi’s request to unseal the transcripts.

Trump’s Reaction and Republican Rift

The White House pushback was swift. President Trump took to social media to deride the critics. On Saturday he warned on Truth Social that even if the files were released, “nothing will be good enough” for “troublemakers and radical left lunatics.” Earlier he had tweeted that anyone still focused on Epstein was a “weakling” who fell for a Democratic “scam.” The administration has publicly defended AG Bondi, brushing off calls for her resignation despite growing restlessness in GOP ranks.

The dispute has opened a clear fissure in the Republican coalition. Some Trump allies, including Greene herself, have tried to force the issue legislatively. Greene joined Reps. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) – as well as a handful of Democrats – in introducing a bill to compel a vote on releasing DOJ records related to Epstein. But to date, House Republicans have uniformly blocked Democratic efforts to bring the files to the floor. Even outside Congress, hard-right commentators have begun to voice outrage. One right-wing podcaster went so far as to call MAGA “a scam” for failing to force the disclosures. The public spats – Greene’s ultimatum, Trump’s insults, the stalled bills – highlight the unusual nature of this showdown: it pits the president squarely against the most conspiratorial wing of his own movement.

Political Stakes Ahead

Greene’s blunt warning to a sitting or former president is striking on its own, underscoring how incendiary the Epstein issue has become for Trump’s base. The saga was supposed to be an Achilles’ heel for Democrats, but instead it is now a test for Trump himself. He has even taken legal action to fight the narrative – filing a multi-billion-dollar defamation suit over a Wall Street Journal report alleging he sent Epstein a lewd birthday letter – while simultaneously insisting the record is clean. For many MAGA voters, however, no half-measure will suffice. As Greene cautioned, “dangling bits of red meat no longer satisfies” the appetite of loyal followers. In short, her message was clear: unless Trump delivers the promised revelations about Epstein’s network, he risks losing the very base that helped vault him back into power. The Epstein files will likely remain a litmus test in Republican politics, as long as Greene and others refuse to let the issue fade away.
